MoLeNET Questions for June

Hello MoleMentors!!

How often do your 'Molementees' contact you outside of class times? Do you mind?

and for all you MoleMentees ....

Do you prefer being shown what to do by the Molementor or by your teacher?

and why don't you try interviewing your teachers too ...

Ask them :

... if they think that they are communicating differently with you as students since the project began ... are they phoning, texting, emailing you more or less ... and do they mind all that extra work?

Have fun and put it all on the blog or into your reflective diaries.

Thank you for all your hard work!
Octavia

Training for MoLe Mentors

Today 14 MoLe Mentors from three of the colleges in the project came to City Lit in Covent Garden for a two-hour training session. Project researcher and tutor Octavia (Westminster Kingsway) and two tutors, Perin (Camden ACL) and Verity (City Lit),were also present. Fiona from City Lit led the training. Everyone was in high spirits and interested to meet other mentors. Mentors swapped experiences and forged useful contacts.
Mentors were introduced to this blog. Can't wait to see student work uploaded! Mentors: don't forget mail me so I can invite you, fiona.law@citylit.ac.uk.
Mentors also saw the Mentors' Moodle that Working Men's College are hosting. This is a forum for swapping tips, asking advice and keeping in contact. We hope the mentors will keep up the great contacts they started today. Mentors: don't forget to mail your Octavia so she can invite you, octavia.haure@westking.ac.uk.

Then we did a workshop on active listening, a useful mentoring skill. How are you doing, mentors, with your uh huhs and eyebrow action?!!
Comments from the participant feedback included:
My partner is very good. We will share information by email.
Friendly group. We got to know each other.
I will tell my classmates tomorrow (about the session) and with emails.
We had a good time with everyone.
We talked with each other about our college. It was good. I am happy.
It was useful to discuss with other students.
In future I hope we going to have more time and more courses to carry on.
The active listening is also very useful for general life.
Participants were: Krystyna, Adam, Habtom, Fernanda, Santiago, Anna, Bi Youne, Mariam, Laura, Yan, Mina, Tarin, Shuab and Shukri.

April's Question of the Month

(Teachers)
“How has the inclusion of MoLeNET technologies impacted on Classroom Management?”

(MoleMentors)
“Do you find your new role challenging?”

(MoleMentees)
“Do you find it easier to understand how to use the technology when your teacher explains it to the class or when the MoleMentor sits with you?”

'Question of the Month'

As the Molenet Researcher I will be posting a monthly question on this blog ...
Please feel free to add your frank comments, so that I can include your views in my research report.
Thank you!
Octavia

I am looking forward to reading what people think about MoleNET so far. At City Lit we are using netbooks and everyone seems really happy with them. I hope you will enjoy using the blog to share ideas and resources.
